Curse Of Strahd Characters

arjunagarwal.substack.com

I’m novelizing my Curse Of Strahd campaign which is based on a home game. and, if all goes well, I’m hoping to that we actually all sit around the table and finally finish the fight with Strahd.

The first thing a novel needs, of course, is the characters. The home game PC’s wouldn’t stand in a novel setting so I had you guys make me new PC’s, via reddit. Except for Bruno which was made skillfully by David Firefox from Tales of Penumaria, hit his page a visit, he also writes DnD content, sharing stories, adventures and tips while he runs his games in his homebrew world, Penumaria.

Without further ado, Lets meet the six characters:

Sleatense

Wandering Island — Rekz the Goblin Ranger. Hailing from a coastal...
Wandering Island on Tumbler

Sleatense is part of a goblin family that split off from the main race to pursue a more gentle way of living. However, being any kind of Goblin in this world is hard. Even if you try your hardest to go against the grain of a stereotypical goblin, you are still a goblin, and the world will treat you as such. As a result, Sleatense sequestered himself away from society, mainly to avoid conflict, but also in an attempt to completely change his mindset and perspective on his goblin nature. He found faith in an unknown god, and took a vow of silence, only communicating with nature and animals through body language. After a time of seclusion he had a vision of a vast evil stronghold, reigning and terrorizing freely with no consequence. The feeling of dread and urgency was enough for him to break his vow of silence and pursue a means to eradicate this evil and bring light to all that it oppresses.

Xaia Lim

OC] [ART] J'Quellan, Monk of the Sun Soul Sect : r/DnD
By u/robustaart via reddit on r/dnd

Xaia Lim woke up found herself trapped inside a wooden cabinet. She didn’t remember anything about her life before that moment except two things, her name and her fight skills.

When she broke open the cabinet she found herself in the ruins of a monastery, away from all civilization. She doesn’t know what might have happened of her if she hadn’t met…

Somelina Vadradz

OC] Ophelia, Haunted One Divination Wizard : r/DnD
u/Deceadeus via subreddit r/dnd

Somelina Vadradz, shortened as So, was a weird child of your average peasant. She talked about things that hadn't happened yet and places she had never been. It weirded her family and village out so much that they dumped her at the nearest monastery. She quickly decided that she was an atheist and didn't believe in gods, despite all evidence to the contrary. A military recruiter came by collecting able bodies and, to be honest, she was both creepy and annoying, so the monks kicked her to the military. She quickly became a soldier and then became a really good fighter. But she was a little too good, always beating friends and enemies in duels, always being where the battle was important, but not dangerous. More than once she was the only one to come out of a battle without an injury. When she manifested his first Echo her captain, who cared for the girl, told him to run from the military. So’s comrades were actively frightened of her. The Captain sent So to a wizardry academy in a far away land where she learned how to channel her abilities. She easily fell into Divination Wizardry. Once So had the skills to control his abilities, she left to explore the world since the Academy was boring.

She met Xaia in the forest near the foothills two days after she left the academy.

Mauzzit

The Gnome Artificer I'm currently playing. Artwork by me : r/DungeonsAndDragons
by u/brendraws on subreddit r/dungeonsanddragons

Mauzzit is a little Forest Gnome with a knack for alchemy and inventing. Neutral Good with a distinct love for stories of adventuring (he feels like he could never do it) and a deep seated care and concern for the well-being of others. He's patented a quick delivery device for his healing potions that make them easier to open and administer/drink. Using a metal canister instead of glass also makes them sturdier. He calls these new-style potions Mauzzits Of course, normal healing potions are boring, and no one wants to be boring. So Mauzzit incorporated additional effects in his Mauzzits based on flavor. Vanilla Mauzzits turn you into a cat for 6 seconds. Grape Mauzzits make you sprongy and bouncy. Cherry Mauzzits let you fly by growing feathers along your arms (Red Mauzzits give you wings!). Of course, not every invention is beneficial. Root Beer Mauzzits were more root than beer and made you grow roots into the ground. Those didn't perform well in initial market testing. But that's how science goes! "You win some, you win others less so but learn how to win those more in the future"

Valentine Castor

Tiefling Aberrant Mind Sorcerer by OhHeyItsKaylaK on DeviantArt
by OhHeyItsKaylaK via Deviant Art

Kidnapped at a young age for their country's classified living weapons project, #1377 was subjected to intense experimentation and torture along with many other children in order to develop latent psychic powers. While most did not survive these experiments, 1377 grew very close to the star of the program, 1313, and one day asked to escape with him. Unfortunately for them, 1313 was loyal to the project and almost killed 1377 in their fight. Barely escaping and hurt by the betrayal, 1377 convinced themself that 1313 was being manipulated somehow and vowed to one day save him but first had to survive on the streets. A local con artist discovered 1377 and initially saw them as a meal ticket, but came to raise them as his partner in crime and even give them a name: Valentine Castor.

Bruno Harwood

Gunslinger with cleric dip advice : r/3d6
source unknown

Bruno was born in squalor, was homeless, and forced to move from town to town because those who were more well off looked down on those who are this desperate. They also had a reputation of being criminals and were imprisoned more than once. Whatever or not it was deserved, or they were just sent to jail so that they could be swept under the rug, remains unknown.

All that ended when his parents were killed in a fire, with him barely alive. All he had left from his former parents was an empty revolver.

He was found by a nobleman who, even though he was told to just let Bruno die, took him in and nursed him back to health. Bruno found himself adopted into a noble family with plenty of siblings who regarded him as one of their own. A couple of his older brothers confessed to being adopted as well.

While his life was turned around for the better, and he remained on amicable terms with his adopted family, he found himself not quite fitting into high blood life. He felt that something was missing, and he didn’t know what. Fortunately, he found a philosophy similar in nature to Taoism, and through practicing it, unlocked a connection to divine power. He decided to become a cleric.

He still had that gun, kept in a vault until he was old enough, and when he was, he decided to restore the weapon and use it as his own. Partially to respect his birth parents, but mostly to remind himself that there are people out there who are less fortunate than him, and he feels called to aid them whenever he can.

Thanks for reading,

I hope that you decide to go check out David’s work at Tales of Penumaria. The first chapter of the campaign is in the works and will come out in a few days.

Warm Regards,

Arjun Agarwal.

Alot of characters. Not going to remember half of them starting out. Seems interesting enough. Are you sitting a novel or an actual play?
