Chapter 1- Tistora(Clio-Amanda System)
Here is the first chapter of Clio Amanda System, also what comes next.
TISTORA- Also known as exoplanet HR 2562 b was the largest planet habited by the humans in the milky way. Inhabited by a whooping 1.1628 trillion people, it was the most populated planet in the galexy. In the year 1 ACE, it was ruled by Charon II. His reign would have been mostly forgotten but for his actions during the trial and exile of Shubham Agitos. In this trial, he changed his own decision causing a shift in the fate of the entire universe...
*All entries are taken from the 17th version of The Galactic Histora
It was three days ago when a programmer had predicted the fall of the galactic council. Since then Charon II hadn’t slept peacefully. He kept on thinking whether was the prophecy true? Or was it a bluff? Even if it was a bluff, Just by saying it out loud had a man created a self-fulfilling prophecy that would spell the end of his rule?
He wouldn’t have taken it this seriously if it had been told by some second grade, B-list professor. But this was Shubham Agitos, one of the greatest minds in the history of the empire. He had been the chief adviser of his father, Charon I.
There were urban legends that he had created a system of predicting the future by studying the past, at least till now they were legends.
But what happened three days ago changed everything. What if this code was actually correct? What if the kingdom was on a doomed path? The next day, Shubham had to stand trial in front of the Galactic Council, there it will be decided whether had he treason against the Kingdom of Tistora or he had only said what was the truth.
##
THE GALACTIC COUNCIL- The Galactic Council is an intergalactic organization that was created to deal with important matters in the universe. Represented are the five major kingdoms of the milky way, and other smaller duchies and confidrencies of other planets.
Trials of great importance are conducted via M'ndavian Justice, which the council invokes only in the most important cases. M'ndavian Justice cannot be appealed or questioned.
The justice consists of an inner council that is made up of certain ministers of the major empires and a small body of representatives chosen from thousands of worlds. The biggest irony in the history of the Council was the trial of Shubham Agitos who himself was the chief justice...
“Trial: Shubham Agritos v The people of Tistora” The speaker announced.
“We would like to extend his charges to the people of the galaxy.” The prosecution announced.
“Trial: Shubham Agritos v The people of the Galaxy. Please call the defendant.” The speaker rectified.
A man of mid-fifties walked into the court. He wore a leisurely T-Shirt and jeans. He had a well-trimmed beard that was turning white and had polished brown shoes. He sat on a metal seat in the middle of the courtroom. “The people will charge him with Treason against empire, Treason against the council, Spreading messages intended to cause distress, misuse of position, misuse of research and Attempt to topple the Galactic Council. We would like to deny any bail and suggest execution” The prosecution recited.
“How do plea?” The speaker asked.
“Not Guilty, Your Honor.” He replied.
“Prosecution, please present your case.” The speaker said.
“Thank you, Your Honor.” The prosecution moved towards Shubham. The prosecution was represented by a woman with brown curly hair. She wore a lawyers outfit and carried a fat red file. She turned towards the council and said, “Shubham Agitos had recently announced in public that in the next 200 years the Galactic empire will fall down and most planets will be reduced to ashes.”
“This based on the current state of the empire it is a clear lie. He claims to have developed a theory to predict the future, but does he hope for us to believe such a stupid lie?” She told.
Shubham stood up from the chair and spoke, “Objection.”
“Objection sustained.”
“Ottoman empire was arguably the richest empire in history. It ruled gloriously for 1700 years and then fell in mere 14 years. Were they some of its richest years? No doubt about that, but was the sultanate thrown off his throne? No doubt about that.” He said.
“Are you comparing an empire which spans 1 quintillion square kilometres to an empire which spanned 52 million square kilometres at its peak? I believe they teach basic maths during programming courses. .” The prosecution argued.
“Well, I don’t see any mistake with the comparison. Don’t we make smaller prototypes before making a full-size model? Or do they don’t teach basic common sense during law courses?”Shubham smiled. The council roared in laughter.
“Ok. But what purpose does it sort? What do you accomplish by telling the entire galaxy about its eventual fall? Except, unless you wish to hasten the fall.”
“To the contrary. I wish to slow down the fall.”
“You could say it to the rulers. Why tell it to the citizens?”
“And have them pay no heed to it. By telling the citizens, I have accomplished myself this trial. Here I can make sure that every soul knows where he or she is headed, provided that no steps are taken to airbag the fall.”
“And can you prove that your theory and its subsequent program are true?”
“To a historian, a mathematician or to a programmer.”
“So you can’t explain it to a layman?”
“Not sufficiently.”
“Then in the words of Albert Einstein, “If you can’t explain a topic to a six-year-old, You don’t understand entirely.”
“Well, I don’t.”
“Then how are we supposed to trust you, When you, who wrote this program, cannot understand it entirely.”
“Gregor Mendel made genetics, that doesn’t mean that he understood or even knew about often changing genome. It’s like asking Archimedes to find the mass of a planet, we are using his theorems to find it but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he is too supposed to understand it.”
“I would like to ask you....” The prosecution was interrupted.
“I am done answering these dumb questions.” Shubham Agitos said angrily, moving out of the questioning area. “I have served this galaxy for the last four decades. I have served two kings and I know enough of laws, that as the chief justice is on trial, The ruler of the accused’s empire will take the place. Cheron II, I know that you are sitting in the jurors' room and watching this. I have served your father and caused him to have a reign which many will term as legendry. When I found out that your kingdom was at risk, I decided to help you out of it. And you decided to ignore me, I was forced to say it out loud. Now here is the question, Do you treasure your kingdom, your people or your ego and your sense of self-worth? If you sentence me to death today, The entire galaxy will know where your loyalties lie. And before you travel back to Tistora, A coup would have occurred throwing you out of office without anyone to help you get back up.” He said.
“THE DEFENCE RESTS.”
##
CHARON- Charon was a noble house on Tistora. They had ruled Tistora from 3027 CE to 3984 CE before being overthrown by...
Had it not been for the second Charon I to not have encountered Shubham Agitos, the chances of them ever returning to power were abysmal. Over the years they invested deep trust in Shubham’s plans. At one instance, During the Shubham Agitos trial, Charon II decided to...
“The Jury will deliver its verdict after an hour-long break. Leaving the planet without informing the speaker and failing to return before the verdict will be considered a crime of the second degree.” The speaker announced. Shubham was walking out of the courtroom when an imperial guard came up to him and said, “Sir, The emperor has summoned you.”
“Where?”
“Meeting room 2C”
“Tell him that I’ll come in a minute,” Shubham said.
Charon II sat in front of Shubham. Between them was a grand wooden table, and they were sitting on two velvet chairs. “I know this sounds strange but I need your help.” Charon II said mixing his cup of hot chocolate.
“Well, you just tried me for treason and whatnot, and now you ask for help,” Shubham replied.
“Yes,” he admitted.
“Go on, Your Majesty.”
“I don’t know what to do.”
“About?”
“About this trial. I agree with your points, I cannot sentence you to death without causing the downfall of Tistora.”
“But?” Shubham inquired.
“But if I acquit you, I lose prestige in the council.” The emperor said.
“Well don’t acquit me.” Shubham casually said.
“But you are innocent,” Charon said.
“I am innocent of spreading messages intended to cause distress, misuse of position, misuse of research and Attempt to topple the Galactic Council. But my announcement to public holds me liable to...”
“Treason.” They both said.
“Exactly. Exile me.”
“Why? and where?”
Shubham pulled out a piece of blank paper and wrote some things on it. He handed it to Charon II.
“Read this as your verdict.” Shubham smiled.
“Father was right.” Charon II smiled.
“About?”
“That you are the smartest man in the universe.”
An hour later, the court resumed. “The jurors have arrived at a decision.” The speaker announced. “On the behalf of the jury, I, Honorary Justice Charon II of Tistora will deliver the verdict,” Charon II said pulling out a piece of paper, the paper which Shubham had given him.
“The jury acquits Shubham Agitos of spreading messages intended to cause distress, misuse of position, misuse of research and Attempt to topple the Galactic Council. It however acknowledges the fact that, despite best intentions, he has, indirectly, conducted treason against the galaxy. Keeping in mind the potential of his research and the fact that he has served the galaxy for the last four decades, we sentence him to exile.
The exile is not offered as a punishment but as a method of keeping their research away from political hap hazards via isolation. He will be allowed to take, to the uninhabited planet Trimus 738E aliases OGLE-2014-BLG-0124L, as many people as he likes for the development of his method of future prediction. The planet has a small section of habitable zone of about 223.2 square kilometres. Rest all is filled with nuclear waste, which can serve as an energy source. The place will be made settlable within a month by some of the best technomancers which the Council has to offer and within that time Shubham is supposed to decide upon the people travelling there along with its structure in the council.
A figurehead of state will have to attend every council as a subordinate of Tistora and will be considered as the 2nd vice president of Tistora. Shubham Agitos will still keep his role as the chief justice, however keeping in mind the grim nature of the research, We would pass a motion to not call him unless a case requires his special interest.”
“Does the council object?” The speaker asked. There was silence.
“I shall consider this as a unanimous decision to allow the verdict passed by the jury. This is the last call.” The speaker said. The council remained silent.
“Then the verdict is passed and the case is closed.” The speaker said. The entire council sighed and started heading towards their respective planets. Shubham pulled out a bunch of papers and handed it to Cheron II. “The list.” He said.
“You had it prepared?” The ruler asked surprised.
“Well, I can predict the future.” He replied.
Guys, I plead you to share this. Please. Normally I have the jumpstart of r/DnD but this time, I don’t.
Also please note that, despite Clio-Amanda System being one of my top projects right now, I will only be able to upload one chapter per month. However, This will not effect The Myth of Krisodoris in any way, which will still come in the same way.(Chapter seven is written but it is in editing.)
Also if you would like to be an ARC reader for any of my projects, help in editing or just want to review the book, Mail me at anulick0@gmail.com and I can send you a free copy(pdf or epub, whatever you prefer).
And again, I plead you to share this with as many people as possible.
Warm Regards,
Arjun Agarwal
